Overall, I really enjoyed doing the LHS News Minute, but first approaching it I found that it was quite stressful. I didn't know where I was going to start, but once I watched a few of the AP News Minutes, I knew exactly what to do. I chose things that influenced a lot of students whether it was their decision in taking a class or what they did with their lives after school. I asked around about some clubs, and I chose the Catalyst because people didn't know exactly what it was, and I used the opputunity to share what the club was about with others. I also, wanted to point out some differences and helpful things to know when coming into high school. That included, AP World Finals and Math Tutors. I did struggle a lot with the transitions because they kept cutting off footage, but I did end up working it out in the end. Other than that, once I figured out what to film, it was a very enjoyable exerience.

Here's the lastest for December at Ladue High School: Catalyst club meets; AP World final; Gingerbread House competition; Math tutors program.
Today I had the opportunity to participate in a walk out here at Ladue High School, and I chose to record and highlight a few parts of what I could get while still being respectful. I heard a lot of stories that I couldn't share with you in this video due to the personal protection of others, but it was genuinely touching to see all these students come together on something they care about. While I only recorded parts, I did stay for the whole time out of respect. I found out that Ladue really does have a few things to work on, and that there are many people that are passionate about what is going on here at my school. To watch my video go to either my video page or my schooltube channel @ewitt26.
Thank you. For this specific video, we concentrated on a variety of different third graders from Spoede Elementary School, including shy, funny, sarcastic, and knowledgeable. Alexis and I worked together at Spoede to get the interviews, the hard part was getting sound from kids that have such small voices. We should have either brought two microphones or either only taken one student at a time. We did cut the kids off a little too soon while asking them questions, but in the end I found them and their answers quite adorable. Music really added the icing on top in this video because of the sweet, but fun nature, just like the kids in the video.
This was a super quick and fun video for a little show called JenEm. We took about a week total to create and post it, but it was definitely not our original idea. Originally, we were going to do tons of cute last minute costume ideas, but this is a very common idea among others so we changed our perspective from cute to ridiculous and funny. We decided to play into a part of America that is a little sad to be honest, this would be the clown epidemic. While, the clowns on the streets right now are typically scary and have well thought out costumes, we thought it would be different to go on the funny side of things and create a ridiculous looking one. The filming went smoothly, but the editing part was hard. There was a total of twelve minutes of footage to cut through to make a less than one minute video. In the end, it turned out pretty funny with the adding of a voice over and some clever lines.
This was the first addition of the Jenem show, cleverly named after Jen and I. It can be found under the video page. The production of the video overall didn't take too long, but we kept forgetting simple things in the classroom that we should have made sure we had with us originally. It was cute, fun, and what a preteen enjoys seeing while scrolling through social media.
This was a fun concept video based on the short chorus of a song called "The Night Is Still Young" by Chel. While the actual video is yet to be released, it was fun to play with and create. We spent a lot of time with the actual concept because it was for a professional, but when it came to actually filming it we ended up having to change it completely. It changed from a short romance to a night out in the town with friends. The filming did end up going smoothly, even though a call to my teacher had to occur. We could have had a few more shot variety, but overall it was fun, and I learned a lot by going out with out a teacher's help.
The Six Word Story project is of course conceptually easy, and helps with practice of a new camera. However, when I got deep with the ideas, it was very revealing. I discovered how far I've come in the past year with my struggle of anxiety. My six words were "Recovery is a never ending process." The shots had to relate to my down days, and how I received help from others. This was somewhat easy because I've been through all these things, but the harder part came when I had to film the shots in how I saw it happening in my head and on paper. I enjoyed it though because I did need more practice with shots, and making a story.
Hey guys!
This year I am also in charge of a website called GSNN or Global Student News Network. We will be having a featured videos, and monthly themes. This upcoming month of September's theme happens to be Six Word Stories. I, too, am creating one for my class. Basically, you will have six different shots, in which you tell a story in six words. Please support us in this adventure by submitting a video! You can find all the information at gsnn.weebly.com/ under the About and Themes Tab! Thanks! Hey everyone! I just started a new class this semester. If you can think back and remember my blog posts back from Broadcast Technology 1 then you will be happy to hear I've just started Broadcast Technology 2. It was important for me to take this class to use the skills I learned from last year and get to use them on a larger scale. I prefer doing news packages, but I think it would also be neat to try out some new stuff. We also have a passion project, in which we choose something we love and turn it in to something we can do in class. I'm specifically interested in the influence of women in today's society. If any of you want to see some cool behind the scenes stuff feel free to follow me on Instagram and Snapchat! You can find that information on the contact page at any time, and I will also leave it below. I have lots of goals this semester such as improving my shots, and mastering our news studio. I hope all of you will follow me on this adventure, thanks!
